THE 'DIFFUSE LIBRARY IN THE VILLAGE OF BOVA BETWEEN NATURE AND CULTURE' PROJECT
The project "Library diffused in the Borgo di Bova between nature and culture" has allowed to integrate cultural resources and naturalistic products fruibili tourism, accessible and sustainable, through the purchase of equipment and the realization of new specific activities of the Bova Municipal Library. On the one hand, the resources provided by the public Avviso "Measures support for Biblioteche and Archivi storici 2023" valere sul PORABRIA FESR-FSE 2014-2020 ASSE 6 Action 6.8.3", promoted by the Region Calabria Dip. Culture, have made it possible to improve the cataloguing, digitisation and digital use of the library; on the other hand, they have helped to extend the cultural and social and aggregating function towards the community, as well as the tourist use, with initiatives aimed at the target of naturalistic, experiential, food and wine and cultural tourists, and formats that can be used also after the completion of the project.
In accordance with the current Regional Plan for the Sustainable Development of Tourism (PRSTS), the Library of Bova is a unique heritage linked to the historical-cultural-linguistic-musical-naturalistic identity of the Greeks of Calabria, recognised as a national linguistic minority by L482/99 and as a regional minority by LR 15/2003, It has created "literary benches", open-air panoramic reading stations, book boxes, purchased electric bicycles, promoted didactic workshops and literary meetings, produced tourist, food and wine, cultural and naturalistic proposals in the form of bilingual brochures, etc.... ..
The project has thus contributed to improving the tourist attractiveness of the village of Bova, chosen by adventure and cultural tourists in search of "real" people, attracted by the language of Homer, in search of beautiful, cosy and clean villages where time has stopped and the ancient Greek, medieval, Norman and Byzantine buildings have been preserved. Loved by nature tourists in search of experiences that respect the environment, who choose Bova because they are fascinated by the rugged and gentle landscapes, such as those that descend from Aspromonte, cross the Mediterranean maquis and merge with the sky and the sea. It is preferred to other villages for slow, family tourism because it is quiet, human, where peace and security are at home and where children can play carefree in the square and the playground behind the locomotive.
Thanks to the project, the Municipal Library of Bova has been improved not only in its cultural function, but also in its social aggregation function (where different age groups can meet in different spaces and at different times to socialise and spend time together: the elderly, young people, children) and, finally, as a point of reference for the tourist industry of the village and beyond.
